FAQ

What does the new “D” technology do for my Dynax camera?

When used with the Dynax 7, the distance encoding mechanism of the new AF (D) lenses enables multi-segment metering for manual focus operation as well as depth-of-field display on camera’s Navigation Display and ADI flash functions with the new 5600(D) and 3600(D) flashes. With ADI (Advanced Distance Integration), flash exposure is guide-number controlled. This precise method is less influenced by the background conditions or the subject’s reflectance and provides optimum flash metering. The Dynax 7, (D) lens and (D) flash combination also enables TTL wireless flash photography at shutter speeds up to 1/200 sec., and wireless, high-speed (HSS) flash photography at any speed. With Dynax 40, 60, 3L, 4 and 5 cameras, (D) lenses enable ADI flash functions with the new 5600 (D) and 3600(D) flashes. Previous Minolta Dynax camera cannot decode the enhanced distance information output by Dynax D lenses. Therefore the enhanced functions are not available with them.
