Using Minolta Camera Drivers

Known installation problems
If no "removable-disc" drive appears on your computer after installing the drivers and turning your camera into data-transfer-mode (PC-mode), the first thing to do is to take a look into the device manager.
Windows 98 (SE)

This is how your device manager should look like when you camera is connected and working.

1.Start your computer in "Save-Mode" (F8 at start-up).
Save mode is important in this case because in normal mode not all drivers may be displayed
Go to the Device-Manager (Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Device Manager). Search for entries like "Unknown Device" and the Minolta drivers (see picture).
Delete this drivers and restart your computer in normal mode.
2.Insert the Minolta-Driver-CD provided with your camera and start the installation process.
Windows 98
3.Your camera should work fine now.
When there still is no response from the camera you may have Windows based problems.
1.Before you continue:
BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR WINDOWS SYSTEM CD!
Disconect the camera

One reason for your problem can be your USB port.
This mostly happens when you made a Windows update (e.g. Windows 95 > Windows 98) or you have a pre-installed system.
2.In this case you can uninstall your USB-Drivers and reinstall them again.
To do this return to save-mode and repeat the steps shown above. This time you also delete the entries "USB Root Hub" and your USB controller (e.g. VIA / Intel / SiS USB Universal Host Controller) in the device manager.
They are located under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" (see bottom of picture above).
When you restart your system, Windows will reinstall this drivers and may ask for your Windows CD during this process.

Known installation problems
Windows 2000 / ME / XP are shipped with Mass Storage Device drivers and normally installation of Minolta drivers is not needed.

If not, go on.
1.Sometimes it can happen that Windows ME / XP won't use there own drivers and ask for a driver CD.
This is not necessary!
If this happens you have to search for the drivers manually (show list of drivers) and choose the Microsoft driver "Mass Storage Device" from the driver menu.
When you already have tried to install the Minolta drivers you will first have to uninstall these drivers.
2.Start your computer in "Save-Mode" (F8 at start-up).
