FAQ

Why are my pictures blurred?

Review some of your pictures while you read this. If you are using a Riva camera, or Dynax camera in Program mode in lower light and no flash was used for the picture, the shutter speed was too slow for the shooting conditions. The blur is cause by subject or camera movement. You can improve the results by using faster film (ISO 400 or 800) and/or tripod. For Riva cameras, it is also recommendable to use a wider zoom setting and move closer to shoot. If you are using an X-series camera or Dynax camera in “A” or “M” mode, set the lens aperture to a lower number to obtain shutter speeds equal to or higher than the focal length you are using. For example, the speed should not be less than “100” for 100mm focal length; “200” for 200mm and not less than “300” for a 300mm lens. You can also improve the results by using faster film (ISO 400 or 800) and/or tripod. When setting the aperture be sure not to let the shutter speed number fall below the focal length number you are using as this will increase the chance of unsharp results caused by motion blur. For example, the speed should not be less than “100” for 100mm focal length; “200” for 200mm and not less than “300” for a 300mm lens. For cameras using the passive autofocus system and shooting a close, outdoor subject, make sure the AF viewfinder sensor is positioned on a detailed part of the subject you want sharp. Then press the shutter button halfway and wait a second to see the steady glow of the AF light before pressing the shutter button all the way to take the picture.
