Computer does not recognise the camera as removable disk (and not listed in device manager). Other USB devices are working properly.

Check the connection between the camera and the computer. The cable has to be plugged into the camera properly. Try a different USB port (do not use an USB hub). Check the connection on another PC to make sure the cable is not damaged. Eventually the USB chipset driver has to be updated. Contact the manufacturer of the mainboard or the manufacturer of the USB chipset. Only for Windows 98/98SE a USB driver (from software CD-ROM) has to be installed before. Be sure, that the batteries are not exhausted while connecting the camera to the computer.
