Dimage EX Camera Update Readme Copyright (C) 1999 MINOLTA Co.,Ltd. IMPORTANT Before attempting to update the Digita OE, please read the following very important information. If the update is interrupted by power failure or incorrect operation, the camera will go unusable. The following procedure must be accomplished for successful update. If the camera becomes unusable during the update due to power failure or incorrect operation, it is not covered by our warranty service. Necessary repair service is offered on charge basis even within the warranty period. This service software can update Digita OE stored in Dimage EX from Version 1.0E or 1.1E to Version 2.0E. The supported models are as follows: - Dimage EX ZOOM 1500 - Dimage EX WIDE 1500 NOTE: This updater should be used only for Digita OE Version 1.0E or 1.1E. If your version number is 2.0E, you do not have the update. 1. How to confirm Digita OE version number - Slide the Mode switch to REC. - Press the Status button, and the current camera setting is displayed in the LCD monitor. - The version number of Digita OE is shown at the bottom of the status list. NOTE: This updater should be used only for Digita OE Version 1.0E or 1.1E. If your version number is 2.0E, you do not have the update. 2. Preparation of Compact Flash Card for this update - When you unzip the downloaded V20E.zip, a folder named "EX20E" which includes the following files is created in the directory: + EX20E -+- System -+- Default.cam - Updater | +- Update.crs - Resource file which updater uses | +- EX15E.bin - Digita/OE to be updated +- Readme.txt - Readme text file about this update - After formatting the Compact Flash card, copy the entire contents of "system" folder to the root directory. The Compact Flash card is now ready to use for this update. 3. Update Installation Procedure ********************************************************************** If power supply to the camera fails during the update, for example by disconnection or low battery capacity, the camera will go unusable and have to be returned to our authorized service center for repair. When you update the camera, always use the AC adapter or load fully-charged Ni-cd or Ni-MH batteries or fresh Alkaline batteries. Before starting update, make sure the AC adapter is firmly connected to the camera and the battery cover is tightly closed. Do not turn off the camera before the update is completely finished. NOTE: -If the camera becomes unusable during the update due to power failure or incorrect operation, it is not covered by our warranty service. Necessary repair service is offered on charge basis even within the warranty period. -Video Mode Setting The update for Digita OE is available with the NTSC video mode setting only. Please set the method of video output signal to NTSC before updating because the default setting is PAL. Please refer to the instruction manual p.98-99 to set the video mode. After updating, please return the video mode to the setting before updating and use. ********************************************************************** 1. Turn off the camera and insert the Compact Flash card prepared for update (See above 3. Preparation of Compact Flash Card for this update). 2. Turn on the camera. Title and version name (1.0E) of the installer will appear in the first screen on LCD. NOTE: Error will occur if language of Digita OE in the camera does not match that of the new version, and the update can not be completed. 3. Choose "START" with the soft key. Current version number and new version number will appear on the next screen. 4. Choose "YES" with the soft key. License agreement screen appears. 5. Choose "AGREE" with the soft key if you agree to the agreement. Warning message about power source appears. 6. Choose "UPDATE" with the soft key. Update will be executed. 7. Choose "SHUT DOWN" with the soft key. Camera is automatically turned off. After the power lamp turns off, remove the Compact Flash card from the camera. 8. Turn on the camera again. When the camera is re-booted, turn it off again without any other operation.* Now the Digita OE in your camera is completely updated. * Do not operate the camera before you turn it off. 9. When the camera is turned on next time, the camera works on the updated new version Digita OE. After update the Digita OE, if you record images on the Compact Flash card used for the update, the "System" folder in the card must be deleted on your computer.
