Trouble Shooting

Q. When I link my Q-M200 to my PC, I get a display that says "Either the camera power is off or the camera is not connected." What should I do?
Please check the following:

Camera:

Can you see "PC" on the top LCD? If it is not displayed, please check the communications cable connection, the power source (remaining battery power or the connection of the AC adapter if you are using it)

Also note that if the Q-M200 is linked with your PC and you don't transfer data within 30 minutes the camera will turn off automatically. If that happens, quit the Q-M200 communications software, turn the Q-M200 back on, and restart the communications software.

Windows :

Check the usable communications port with the system device manager in the control panel.

Check whether the Q-M200 TWAIN Data Source port is set for a usable communications port.

Check if the communication cable is connected to the serial connector of a usable communications port.

Note: Consult your computer manual for details on using the communications port and serial connector.

The communications ports on PCs with internal modems or infrared communications ports have some restrictions, and you may find that you cannot use your communications port. In that case, follow the BIOS Settings and Setup Utilities section of your computer manual to make your communications port usable. On some computer models (mainly those with internal modems or built-in expansion ports), you may have two serial communications connectors but can only use one.

Q.My display says "Communications error."
Quit the Q-M200 communications software, turn the Q-M200 back on, and restart the software.

The Q-M200 can handle communications speeds up to 115 Kbps, but depending on your PC model or system configuration your communications may not be set for high transfer speeds. So, test by starting from the slowest setting and move up to the maximum stable communications speed.

Power-Saving Function Setting

Depending on your PC's power-saving function setting, your communications power may shut off after a certain period elapses even if you are transferring data from your camera. (This happens particularly with notebook PCs.) Therefore, either turn off the power-saving function or use a power-saving mode that prevents the communications port power from shutting off when transferring data through the serial port even when you don't touch the keyboard or other input devices.

With Windows 95, set the power management to off with the power management in the control panel. Screen Savers Screen savers on some PCs start operating during communications and may cause errors.

Q.It takes me at least five minutes to read in a single shot. Why is that?
You may have set your communications speed for the Q-M200 communications software at 9,600 bps. The default communications speed setting for the Q-M200 communications software is 9,600 bps. Try altering the communications speed setting of the Q-M200 communications software.
