FAQ

Can I use all Dynax lenses with Dynax cameras?

With few exceptions, all Dynax AF lenses can be used on all Dynax AF cameras. We designed Dynax lenses with the long view in mind. To this end, the ROM IC in each Minolta AF lens was programmed with over 23 different pieces of information including focal length, aperture range, aperture position, etc. As the capabilities of the cameras and the computer systems that control them grew, more and more of this information was used. Exceptions: RF500mm f/8 mirror lens not usable with the Minolta 5000, 7000. Power Zoom 35-80mm not usable with Original Minolta AF and Dynax Series-i cameras. AF28-80mm xi Zoom: Will not zoom with Original Minolta AF and Dynax Series-i cameras. NOTE: Dynax xi-Zoom lenses will operate with Original Dynax and Series-i cameras, but the power zoom function will not be available. Minolta AF "D" series lenses will work with all Dynax cameras. However, the additional distance information they provide can only be decoded and used by the Dynax 3, 4, 40, 5, 5D, 60, 7, 7D. The Dynax 9 can be modified by the service center to support ADI functionality.
